Marriage Minute 10-13-2019 Patterns of Communications Edited from The Love Language Minute Devotional by Gary Chapman.

Let the words of my mouth and the thoughts of my heart be pleasing to You, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer. – Psalm 19:14

Communication involves sharing your life with another person.  In a marriage it is the process whereby two individuals choose to reveal their thoughts, feelings and experiences with each other.

On the surface level, communication seems simple enough.  Yet, research indicates that the lack of communication is one of the major problems in relationships.  One of the main reasons is that our emotions often get in the way of genuine interaction.  Feelings of hurt, anger, fear, disappointment, frustration, or low self-esteem hinder open communication.

In our efforts to maintain our emotional stability, we develop poor patterns of communication; because we are simply doing what comes naturally (sin).   Chances are that as individuals and as couples we have developed some poor communication patterns that we simply need to submit to the grace of God to correct.
