Marriage Minute
Esther 1:12-15 “But Queen Vashti refused to come at the king’s command brought by his eunuchs; therefore, the king was furious, and his anger burned within him. Then the king said to the wise men who understood the times (for this was the king’s manner toward all who knew law and justice, those closest to him being Carshena, Shethar, Admatha, Tarshish, Meres, Marsena, and Memucan, the seven princes of Persia and Media, who had access to the king’s presence, and who ranked highest in the kingdom): “What shall we do to Queen Vashti, according to law, because she did not obey the command of King Ahasuerus brought to her by the eunuchs?”
Interesting that the King, when angry and furious, had some self-control and he turned to his wise men for counsel. These men understood the times, and law and justice. It could be that there were problems brewing in the kingdom, wealth and prosperity, leisure and pleasure, similar to today’s society.
Husband, do you have other men of wisdom, understanding that you can go to?
Wife, do you show honor and respect your husband, as unto the Lord?
1 Peter 3:1-2 Amplified “In the same way, you wives, be [a]submissive to your own husbands [subordinate, not as inferior, but out of respect for the responsibilities entrusted to husbands and their accountability to God, and so partnering with them] so that even if some do not obey the word [of God], they may be won over [to Christ] without discussion by the godly lives of their wives, when they see your modest and respectful behavior [together with your devotion and appreciation—love your husband, encourage him, and enjoy him as a blessing from God].
