Marriage Minute 2-10-2019 What do children need?
John Drescher said in his book, Seven Things Children Need, “A husband’s lack of love for his wife can drastically affect his children’s emotional development.” Husbands, when the Lord commands us to love our wives, our Father God is also looking out for our children.
Gary Smalley said, “Rebellious children and a wife who is disrespectful to her husband are more likely to be found in a home where the husband does not know how to lovingly support his family.”
A lot of men never had a biblical example of a godly father/husband in the home. For us men, that’s no excuse, since we have God’s Word and the Holy Spirit. Men need great encouragement to step up to be godly leaders.
1 Corinthians 13:1 “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.”
Husband’s Prayer: Father, please help me to lovingly support our family, help me to show my children I love God by loving their mother.
Wife’s Prayer: Father, please help me to respect my husband even if he doesn’t deserve it. Please help me to understand how to encourage my husband.
